Extreme wide shot is used mainly to establish the setting around the character.
Close ups are used to show the emotion of the character.
Wide shots, again are mainly used to establish setting, while still showing what the character is doing.
Extreme close ups are used to show what the character is doing and show the smaller details that you might not be able to see with a wide or medium shot.
Sequencing in video is important because if you do not use sequencing then it will be confusing to the viewer. It will seem like the shots are not in order.
